Fatigue, Breakdown and Passenger Emergencies

Recognize deteriorating performance and protect people during abnormal events.

Fatigue is a safety failure

Yawning, wandering attention and missed information are warning signs. Stop at a safe location and take proper rest rather than relying on stimulants.

Manage a breakdown

Move away from traffic when possible, apply parking controls, use hazard lights and place warning devices according to safe procedure.

Protect passengers

Explain what is happening, keep passengers away from traffic and evacuate only when remaining onboard creates greater danger.
