Braking and Emergency Stops

Build stopping force progressively while keeping the motorcycle stable.

Progressive pressure

Apply the brakes smoothly so tyre load builds before stronger pressure. Grabbing a brake can reduce grip and stability.

Use available grip

When possible, straighten the motorcycle before heavy braking. Reduce speed early before corners, slippery surfaces or uncertain hazards.

Practise correctly

Emergency braking is a trained skill. Practise in a controlled environment with instruction, not in live traffic.
