Professional Heavy-Driver Readiness

Prepare yourself, the vehicle and the journey before taking responsibility for a large vehicle.

Responsibility begins before movement

A heavy vehicle or bus creates greater consequences when judgement is poor. Confirm that you are rested, medically fit and free from anything that reduces alertness.

Plan the journey

Review the route, height and weight restrictions, weather, congestion and safe rest locations. Allow enough time so that schedule pressure never forces unsafe speed.

Drive professionally

Maintain a calm observation routine, communicate early and leave generous space. Passenger comfort and public safety are more important than saving a few minutes.
