Helmet and Protective Equipment
Choose, fit and maintain equipment that reduces injury.
Helmet fit matters
The helmet should sit level, feel firm without painful pressure and remain secure when the strap is fastened. A loose helmet may move during impact.
Protect the whole body
Use gloves, over-ankle footwear, abrasion-resistant clothing and eye protection. Bright or reflective areas make the rider easier to detect.
Inspect and replace
Check straps, shell, visor and lining. Do not rely on a helmet with unknown history, hidden damage or a major previous impact.
